My Weekly Weight Loss Update

Well, here it is Monday again, and boy, did it come faster than expected. Time for my weekly confession on my weight loss. This last week was a whirlwind of activity and this week is shaping up to be even busier than last week. Well, let's just cut to the chase. I lost one whole pound this last week. WOW!!! The good news is that even after eating candy (which I had been avoiding for over a month now) the weight did come off. I was extremely nervous getting on the scale this morning, and was even formulating excuses for why I didn't weight myself. I knew you would be watching, so I sucked it up and stepped on the bathroom scale.

Boy, imagine my pleasant surprise to see not a weight gain, but a whole pound gone. For those of you that know me, I have a very difficult time taking weight off. Once my body gets used to a particular weight, it just doesn't seem to want to let that excess tonnage go. I have been struggling to get back to my high-school weight (I was there before I moved to AZ 7 years ago). What is even worse is that my weight really didn't go up until I quit my extremely stressful job and started traveling around the country working at motorcycle rallies.

You know part of the reason for my weight gain in the last 4 years (yes, I only gained the extra tonnage in the last 4 years, I still have my 'skinny' clothes and WILL get back into them...eventually...) is the lack of my stress diet. When I worked 80 hour work weeks, by the time I got home, I had absolutely no desire for food. So, essentially the only time I ate was breakfast, before starting the work rat-race all over again. Usually lunch didn't happen because I kept working and just plain forgot to eat. When I realized I missed lunch, it was only about 3 hours to 5 pm (theoretical quitting time) so I put off eating until I got home. Usually I got a major project between 4 and 5 pm that had to be completed by the next morning, so I would stay late. Hence, by the time I got home, I really wasn't interested in any food.

This diet may have kept my weight down, by my health suffered majorly for the stress I put my body through. Once I left that rat race, I began to eat regular meals, at regular times and the weight started to come on. My next challenge was my diet when traveling. On the road, it is fairly difficult to get your hands on fresh fruit and vegetables. The reason is that you really aren't supposed to transport any fresh fruit across state lines, and I cross state lines sometimes on a daily basis. Then, grabbing food at a motorcycle rally, heck, how many healthy food kiosks do you find at rallies? So, for a while, hamburgers and fries were the weekend lunches. Dinners consisted of Hamburger Helper or Tuna Helper. Lots of carbohydrates, not much fiber, lots of fats.. Lastly, add to this whole mixture, the fact that I am not a spring chicken anymore. Something like a "change-of-life" was happening to my body too. What's up with THAT???

By the time I returned from our first year on the road, I gained almost 35 pounds. Ouch!! It has been an ongoing battle to lose those pounds, but it looks like I may finally be turning the bend on that. I am doing light exercise, I know I should be more diligent, but it is so difficult to take an hour out of the day to exercise. I have been so tired lately (partly due to the added weight I bet...) that after I have done all the house chores, errands, appointments, vehicle detailing, and bookkeeping, I honestly don't want to go exercise.

I know, very bad attitude, but that will change. As we go on the road, I have to walk the dogs at least 3 times a day. On those three walks, we all go a minimum of a mile and a half, so I am walking about 4 and a half miles a day. That, combined with a better planned eating diet this time (we have been working very diligently on eating more balanced meals) with less fat, salt, and carbs, I should continue to whittle those pounds down until I get back to my target weight.

So, I will continue to keep you appraised on my weight loss over the next few months, hopefully the weight will continue to drop as we travel across this wonderful country of ours. Tomorrow we will probably discuss a weightier subject, unless I find something that tickles my funny bone and choose to share.

One last item - Last week I introduced the concept of Hemp Hearts and told you I would keep you updated on my progress with the Hemp Hearts. Well, I have used them for 6 out of 7 days (I forgot to eat them yesterday) and can't say that I have seen much change in my healthy or well being one way or another. I will continue to take the Hemp Hearts, and hope that something positive can be seen, but so far, as much as I would REALLY like to tell you this is the do-all, cure-all, be-all, I can't say that. The only benefit I see so far is that they make my yogurt crunchy and they taste good. Beyond that, right now, the Hemp Hearts seem to not be doing anything more for me. I have not noticed a decrease in appetite (it has been too hot here in AZ to want to be hungry), nor have I noticed a huge burst in energy as they advertise. I will keep plugging away and see if perhaps my body is slower than most to respond to the good aspects of the Hemp Hearts. I really do like the concept, but right now, I can personally see no specific results.

Check out our website for some really cool nutritional products that we have. They will help support your body's natural ability to heal. We have Stem Cell Nutritionals to aid your body to naturally release it's own stem cells to heal itself. We also offer a nutritional drink, Mona Vie to help keep your existing cells healthier.

Until tomorrow...

More Info on Hemp Hearts and Why

Well, today I finally tasted the sample products we received yesterday, Hemp Hearts. No, they didn't taste like chicken. They tasted like a cross between sunflower seeds and pine nuts. Not a bad flavor, and tasted great when mixed with yogurt. The jury is still out about whether this product can do what all the posted reports indicate, but it is only day one of my personal guinea pig trial...

You may all be wondering why I am allowing myself to test other nutritional products when I currently have one that I love dearly, STEMTech. There are several reasons why I keep an open mind towards other nutritional products. First off, the STEMTech products help promote healthy cell production and growth. StemEnhance and StemFLO do not necessarily provide nutrition to keep those new, healthy cells healthy. So, I am on the hunt for products to help keep the healthy developed cells healthy. We currently offer MonaVie nutritional drinks for maintaining healthy cells, but sometimes nutritional drinks alone do not inspire others. Some people may not like the taste of some of the MonaVie nutritional drinks, others may not want to spend the money on a nutritional drink.

So, I continue to search for alternative methods to maintain those healthy cells. For those of you that know me, I am always looking for the best of the best. That even includes waterless vehicle cleaning technology. If you have looked at my website, you will notice that I carry two different brands of waterless cleaning technology products (UltraLuster and Dri Wash 'n Guard). That is because I feel they both are currently the best in the field. I am always looking for the best in a particular field. I want to be able to offer my customers the best in the market, without them having to do all the research. The research is properly my job. Therefore, I am also searching the nutritional field for some of the best nutritional products out there.

What I have discovered is that there is a much bigger field in nutritional products than I had ever imagined. I knew on some level that there were a multitude of options, but wow, it is hard to figure out where to start. In order for me to narrow the field down a bit, (and really, that is still hard to do) I am trying to decide on what type of nutritional product I would like to focus on. The STEMTech products are revolutionary because they promote your own body's ability to restore and heal itself. The next question is which direction do I wish to take in order to keep those newly created healthy cells healthy.

I am not a medical doctor, nor have I had any medical training. What I have been doing is asking various health professionals what they would recommend for maintaining optimal health and why. Golly, the answers I get are as varied as the nutritional products that are on a health food store. So, back to my dilemma, what to do....

What I have decided to do is to look for new ideas in nutrition, some that have legitimate science behind them instead of empty theories and old wives tales. That does narrow the filed a lot, but still, it is difficult to sift through the statements to validate which has scientific basis and which are unsubstantiated claims. The Hemp Hearts concept has some scientific basis and has been recommended by many doctors, but it has not gone main stream. Not sure why, and will continue to dig until I understand the concepts more fully.

In the mean time, I will continue to use the samples that were graciously supplied to me by the distribution company and will keep you all posted on my personal results. I did have more energy today than yesterday, which is one of the claims of the distributor. But, the real key is in discovering if this new-found energy is continuous, day after day, or just because I had a good day today. I would really like to discover that Hemp Hearts will be an awesome nutritional, I love the concept that they promote, and technically the proteins, vitamins and enzymes that are listed are all the great things our human body needs. I will continue to monitor my personal physical results, and keep you appraised every few days.

In a nutshell, the product, Hemp Hearts, claim that they are the most concentrated source of essential nutrients known. Theoretically those that consume a set amount of Hemp Hearts each morning will notice that they have more energy, will expel wastes after every meal, and are not hungry until mid-afternoon. This product is also promoted as being able to allow a person to lose weight because by consuming Hemp Hearts will reduce your appetite and allow you to eat smaller portions of non-processed foods. If you follow their diet regimen, you could lose up to a pound a day. The Hemp Harts product claim to have sufficient nutrients for tissue health, sufficient long fiber roughage for colon health and sufficient energy for success and good mental health.

I promise to keep you posted.

What are Hemp Hearts?

Tonight was supposed to be the weekly update on my weight. Today started very early and I just plain forgot to get on the scale. There were a lot of things going through my mind, one of which was that we have only 14 more days before we hit the road for Run for the Wall. There is an amazing amount of work that needs to be completed before leaving for this 10-day odyssey across this wonderful country of ours.

Since I am not going to talk about my weight management today, I was struggling about what to enlighten everyone about. I struggled until the U.S. Postal Service placed a 5 pound box at my door this afternoon. At first I thought it was one of my regular product deliveries, except for the fact the box was oblong, not square, and it had "FRAGILE" and "THIS SIDE UP" plastered all over it. Now my interest was piqued. Even more interesting is that I had to sign for the box, which I never have to do on the regular product deliveries.

When I read the outside label, I noticed that this box came from Alberta (Canada, not New York...). Now, I was really wondering, what in the world was sent. Eagerly I took the box inside and carefully opened it. To my surprise, I found many small sample packages of "Hemp Hearts". I had forgotten that a few weeks ago, another nutritional company contacted me asking if I would consider carrying their line of nutritional products and they were going to send me some samples. Obviously I didn't think too much about the call, I get those types of calls fairly frequently, but this time, the company representative meant what they said.

What was sent were several samples of Hemp Hearts, two one-pound containers of Hemp Hearts (so we knew what the retail product packaging was like) and two samples of their "More than a Square Meal Bars". It is very rare for me to have a company so proud of their product that they would ship a full compliment of their products to sample. That in itself has me excited about this new opportunity. The other part is all that I have read about what Hemp Harts are and what they can do for your health.

Very briefly, Hemp Hearts look a little like Wheat Germ and are intended to be sprinkled over your food. The company highly recommends that you consume approximately 5 tablespoons of Hemp Hearts over yogurt and fruit (or vegetables) early in the morning. Hemp Hearts are shelled hemp seeds, but have 0.0% THC in them (so those of you thinking I am getting into something CRAZY...just forget it...). They are high in proteins, essential fats, natural vitamins. They are more balanced and digestible than any soy product, contain all the essential and Omega fats required for human health and contain more required amino acids (Proteins) than milk, meat or eggs.

There is a lot more about these Hemp Hearts than I have the time to cover tonight, I will be personally consuming the products starting first thing tomorrow morning and will continue to keep you posted on this new product that we may just add to our nutritional product line. Tomorrow I will cover more about what the company states Hemp Hearts can do for your health, and I will be your personal guinea pig to test the product on. If this is as good as the company professes, it will be on our website within the next few days...

Stay tuned. Until tomorrow...
